Our Home
Trinity-St. Andrew’s United Church is situated at the corner of Chapel St. and Prince Edward St. in Brighton, Ontario, just one block south of the main intersection in town. Our site is comprised of three buildings plus a green space and parking lot.
The main structure is the historic sanctuary building, dated from 1848, with the later addition of the “Wings” in 1871. The back Hall appeared in 1902, and was renovated when the large kitchen was added in 1957.
The Christian Service Building, to the south of the church itself, was erected in 1966 to house and expand the clothing depot and provide space upstairs for other activities.
The former manse, on Chapel Street, is an older, brick, three bedroom home, dating from the mid to late 1800’s.
How Our Space is Used
Currently various church and community organizations make use of our facilities, as follows:
Sanctuary
Worship and concert venue, weddings, funerals, and special events
Hall
Sunday School, and Nursery, plus meeting room used by our church council, study groups and community organizations such as the Horticultural Society and Alcoholics Anonymous. Additionally, outreach programs like the Hot Lunch Program and the After School Club use the Hall.
Kitchen
Church suppers and social events, as well as the weekly Hot Lunch Program, and twice weekly Meals on Wheels preparation by Community Care.
Christian Service Centre
The lower level is the permanent home of the Clothing Depot, while upstairs is used by the quilting circle, Alcoholics Anonymous, the Girl Guides and Kindermusic .
Manse
Church Offices for the Office Administrator and the Minister, office space for Northumberland Services for Women and Northumberland Legal Services, plus full-time day use by Community Living Brighton and evening use for groups such as local Cancer Society meetings.
Our Dreams
Currently, the council of Trinity-St. Andrew’s is exploring options for an addition that would enhance our ability to accomplish our mission and provide a more accessible and user-friendly space for all.

Looking at the front of the church from the street, the proposed hall can be seen on the left, with a welcoming doorway, and covered porch.

Looking from the parking lot, you can see the south facing windows of the hall, with vaulted ceiling, and the direct doorway to the kitchen on the left.

The floorplan shows that the minister's office(1) and office administrator's office(2) are on the north side facing Chapel Street, with a seperate entrance(3). There is also an accessible entryway(4) on the north side. The choir room/music director's office(5) would have easy access to the sanctuary. A small parlour or meeting room(6) adjoins the minister's office. There is a nursery(7), and two adjoining Sunday School rooms(8). Updated washrooms(9) are accessed off the hallway. An ample storage room(10) would house tables, chairs, AV equipment, and supplies for the various groups who use the building. The large hall could seat 250.

Seen from Chapel Street, there is a main entrance that has a covered porch, and opens into the hallway leading to the main room. There is a second entrance that leads to the small hallway to the offices and parlour. This small hallway can be secured off from the rest of the building. The offices and meeting room, etc. would have a flat roof.
